How Yamaha Motorcycles Stack Up Against Other Brands From A Motorsports Dealer Riverside County

By Jay Dy

In a recent survey, Consumer Reports conducted a survey based on owner feedback which found Yamaha Motorcycles to be the most reliable brand. When the magazine asked for survey responses, 11,000 Motorsports Dealer Riverside County riders responded. Their experiences and opinions on their bikes incorporated 12,000 bikes purchased new between 2008 and 2014.

How Yamaha Stacks Up on Reliability. In general, Japanese brands ranked as the most reliable bikes, with Yamaha at the top, followed by Suzuki, Honda and Kawasaki. On the other hand, Triumph, Ducati and BMW were more prone to needing repair.Yamaha owners had less serious problems to deal with than the other owners. Can-Am trikes were at the bottom for reliability and four times more likely to break down. Statistically, the study found only 11 percent of Yamaha Motorcycles have serious issues in the first four years.Other Japanese bikes, such as Suzuki, Honda and Kawasaki, ranked very high in the reliability category. Under 15 percent needed major care in the first four years.

In the survey, Yamaha owners were found to have less technical difficulties with their bikes than the other owners. The least reliable motorcycle was found to be Can-Am trikes. The study showed that most Yamaha owners had a smooth first four years with their bikes.Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Honda were also ranked very highly regarding reliability. Less than 15 percent had serious technical issues in the first four years after purchase.

Branding. Surprisingly, despite the reliability factor, Yamaha Motorcycles did not rank at the top of bikes owners would buy again. European bikes seem to have a certain cool factor, related to the price tag, which defies real experience faced by owners.

Branding. The unbelievable fact is that withal reliability, Yamaha will miss buyers if the current owners were to buy again. Price against experience saw European bikes beat Yamaha at their game. Motorcycle riders have a taste when it comes to branding just like car owners. That may give the reason for the shift. The industry put more emphasis on branding than any other factor like comfort and reliability.

Yamaha motorcycles give the rider value for their money, and that is a fact that will stay for a long while. The price should not make you go for substandard products. At times you have to spend money to get quality products.
