Everyday Tricks For Reducing Carbon Emissions Oklahoma

By Karen Wood

Climate change and global warming are posing significant danger to humanity. They are as a result of escalated human activities that result in more CO2 into the atmosphere. According to experts, there are daily choices and steps that people can take towards reducing carbon emissions Oklahoma and in the process cool down the earth to enhance human survival.

Walking is one of the easiest and most effective ways of cutting emission. It can be grouped alongside other alternatives to driving that include riding a bike. If you do not have to drive because the distance is short, walk. It means that the vehicles will not consume fuel that is considered one of the biggest contributors. Even walking upstairs is one of the options.

Drive vehicles that are fuel efficient. There are instances where you have to drive. Buy vehicles that have a proven track record of fuel efficiency. These vehicles are usually more expensive to start with but will save you a great deal on fuel in the long run. It means that they consume less fossil fuel turning them into less polluters. Electric cars are not yet zero rated on CO2 emission because they still need to be charged.

Vehicle handling and your manner of driving are responsible for energy consumption. Do not accelerate abruptly. This results in unnecessarily high consumption. Ensure that your engine is properly tuned and oiled to make it efficient. Keep your tires properly inflated because they will save you approximately 3 percent in fuel consumption. Combine your trip into one instead of making numerous errands.

Thorough insulation will reduce the amount of CO2 that you are responsible for. You are required to completely seal the house so that no air can escape. The aim is to ensure that your AC system is only working to warm or cool limited space. If air is escaping or finding its way into the house, you will be consuming more energy unnecessarily.

Water usage is a big contributor to CO2. Water needs to be pumped from miles away. This means that a lot of energy is used in the process. You should therefore use water sparingly. Conserve water when washing your hands or dishes. Use a container or bowl instead of running water. Vehicles should be wiped with washing only taking place when it is necessary. Irrigate by drip instead of using sprinklers or flooding the yard. Choose water efficient shower heads, faucet heads, dish washers and toilets, among other installations in the house.

Mind the source of food you eat. Food has been rated among the biggest contributors of greenhouse gases. Since it must be produced, you can reduce emission by avoiding refrigerated food that is usually transported from miles. Consume foods that are manufactured locally. Each locality has the capacity to feed itself.

Support sources of clean energy in all your endeavors. They include the use of solar to power operations in the industry or home. Wind and geothermal are also considered clean sources of energy. Construct a biomass energy project at home or institution where you are responsible. These are excellent ways to reduce your carbon footprint and in the process make the world cooler.
