You have a more comprehensive view when you read through learning materials.

Watch TV and read real scripts. Your watching should be from the perspective of a writer. Notice how words are used and their impact on action as well as tone of a program. You will understand what is expected from your scripts.

Get a scripting application. The software makes it easy for you to write and format a script. You can alter the format to meet your expectations. The software also allows you to choose between scripts for documentaries, plays, news, and other programs on TV. While it does the formatting, you have more time to focus on the creativity of your script.

Write a spec script. This could be an original show or an episode of a show that is already showing. You will not be paid for it and no one will even ask for it. In fact, the script will not be used. It is meant to show the directors and owners of the show that you have what it takes to write or be part of the writing team.

Create networks within the industry. This is aimed at introducing your skills and talents to those who run the industry. You should also consider joining an agency or hiring an agent. Such have the connections and will provide directions. A mentor is another way of gaining entry into the club of writers. With this exposure, you will learn the loops and eventually gain acceptance.

Creativity and aggressiveness are the drivers of success in this industry. Be as creative as possible and also ready to accept criticism. There is no job that is waiting for you automatically. You have to curve your niche through your quality of work. If the work is impressive, your career as a writer will be on a roll.
