Locating The Best Online Job Posting Sites

By Gary Allen

There are a number of different job posting boards online. Whether looking for part-time, full-time or work-at-home jobs, it can often be difficult to determine which is the best online job posting site. Generally, the ones which have been online the longest are most likely going to have the most postings.

For the career minded, sites like Dice, Indeed and Monster are often the best bets for finding higher paying career oriented positions. Whereas, sites like craigslist, SimplyHired and Yahoo Jobs are often better for jobs which pay minimum or just over minimum wage. If there is a local entertainment guide or newspaper in the area, most will host an online classified section which often includes a number of job listings.

While the internet has grown over time, some job oriented sites have disappeared. In most cases, it is because two or more sites have merged since first appearing online. In others, it is because the company or organization in charge of the website no longer exist. Still, with sites like CollegeRecruiter and other school related sites, many current and past graduates and students have still been able to find work.

When it comes to minorities, there are also dedicated websites aimed at helping these individuals obtain employment. One of which is that of DiversifyJobs though there are also others. On the other side, professors, doctors, lawyers and other professionals may want to join a paid membership site. These paid sites often provide job descriptions and company information for a nominal membership fee to those who qualify.

While not actually a job posting site, LinkedIn does have a job board. Companies looking to hire individuals often post job descriptions which users can view then link to an application. With LinkedIn, an individual can also see if there are any associated contacts at target companies. By using LinkedIn, an individual can easily see if one has connections at a target company.

Two of the best small sites are SimplyHired and Indeed which offer a number of contract and temporary job postings. Freelance employees may want to check out sites like freelance or ifreelance dot com. Whereas, those wishing to work on small independent projects regardless of pay may want to check out sites like fiver dot com and others.

Regardless of goals, these sites can often be beneficial to job seekers and those seeking employees. Another area in which employers seek out employees is through local job fairs. In most cases, larger employers like Apple, IBM, Microsoft and others along with representatives from universities and other entities table at these events. At which time, many attendees have been granted on-site interviews and at times, job offers.

Whether working at home or away, it is important that individuals be detail oriented, dependable and work well with others. In some cases, it will be necessary that an individual be able to work independently or as part of a team. Whatever the case, it is always important to follow company policies and guidelines while presenting oneself in a professional manner.
