The dielectric liquid re-solidifies and removes the eroded materials.

The conducting probe does not come into contact with the surface to be machined. This makes the EDM method to be a purely non-contact machining process. This feature is useful in that it helps you to attain tighter tolerances as well as advanced finishes in a wide range of surfaces that could be impossible with other methods.
