What One Can Learn From Millennial Leadership Training

By Shirley Campbell

Although the previous generations view the millennials as a self entitled, rather weak, and spoiled generation, there is no doubt that millennials do have potential if they are trained properly. With the growth of technology and the accessibility of worldly information to people these days, proper millennial leadership training will teach this generation how to utilize these tools for success. These are some of the things that these types of programs will have to offer.

Now, before talking more about what the program may offer, one can further appreciate it by getting to know the generation Y. First off, individuals from generation Y seem quite spoiled because they grew up in a time where finance is not a very big problem for most middle class citizens. Also, the baby boomers who have worked hard during their time are now more inclined to spoiling their children in order to give their children the things that they were not able to have.

Although the generation Y is more spoiled then the previous generations, they make up for it with their innovative mind and creativity. While generation X learned how to survive and rise to the top, generation Y is more creative and can come up with really out of the box ideas. With this kind of skill, it is possible for generation Y babies to really do well if they are given a chance.

Now, one of the most important things that this type of leadership course would teach is how to have the right mindset for success. While the generation Y people have the self entitlement weakness mentioned above, it can actually be curbed so that they can churn it into a survival and hungry mindset. One has to develop a survival mindset before he becomes successful because he has to know how to do well even in the most adverse of situations.

Once one has already gotten that good mindset, then the next thing to learn would be the skills. Now, one of the most important skills to learn would be organization skills that would allow one to be very systematic. If one would want to lead people, then he has to make sure that he is systematic in order to ensure that his people can work in a good environment.

Now, the bulk of the training would go into learning proper people skills. Take note that leadership is not just about bossing people to do this or do that. It is about knowing where to put people in which role and how to motivate them to do their work well.

With the innovative mindset and the tech savviness that the millennials naturally have, it would be easy to train them to not only create a creative working system for the work, but also to come up with a system for motivating and leading the people. One will also learn the importance of creating an emotional connection with the people in order for them to work well.

Millennials do have a good potential if they are trained. However, these people need the right amount of training to do so. As long as they are trained, they will not succumb to their weaknesses.
