For Wall Insulation Westchester County New York Is The Best Way To Go

By Ronald Ellis

Most people pay huge monthly power bills because their homes lose a lot of heat energy to the environment. Heat loss through walls has led to the introduction of insulating materials that prevent heat exchange between the inside and outside environments to achieve heat efficiency. When in need of the best wall insulation Westchester County New York should be a place to give priority.

Buildings can be insulted against energy loss through three main methods. In the first method, insulating material gets pumped into the walls to offer an insulating layer. The other two methods are very similar in the manner in which they are applied. They involve attaching insulating materials to the inner and outer surfaces of the walls.

The method that involves pumping insulation material is suitable for cavity-wall construction. This is due to the fact that this kind of construction usually leaves space between two rows of walls included in the design. It is this space that is filled with insulating material. This method is long-lasting and irreversible once done since the insulating material cannot be removed without destroying the walls first.

Holes are drilled into the walls to allow for insulating material to be pumped through them. The diameters of the holes are supposed to be 1.7 to 2.6 centimeters and they must be sealed sufficiently when the process of pumping has been completed. Holes need to be made at intervals of 0.6 to 1 meters apart. The appearance of the material used to seal holes and that of the wall must resemble closely to avoid being noticed.

The option for installing insulating material to the surfaces of the walls is suitable for walls that are constructed from 9-inch hollow blocks or solid masonry. Internal insulation is also called dry-lining. It involves fixing dry-lining panels to the surfaces of the walls. Dry lining panels are made of plasterboard with insulation bonded to it. It also has an integral vapor barrier.

How thick the insulating material is and its properties determine the U-value of the insulations. Thin layers of insulations can be used if the material has low thermal conductivity. Insulations that are installed from inner walls surfaces are less permanent and can be removed or replaced if needed.

When insulating materials are installed internally, they also pose certain drawbacks. The first drawback is associated with causing inconvenience to people occupying the room. The process causes a lot of disruption to operations and processes. It may be necessary to halt all operations in the rooms to allow for the installation to be completed. Reinstallation of services may also be necessary in most cases. Some of the services reinstalled include electrical wiring, sockets, and heating radiators.

When the material is installed from within the inner walls, some space in the room is lost to it. Besides that, redecoration is usually necessary in all the rooms in which the material is installed. To enhance efficiency and general outlook, joints are sealed properly using suitable materials. Air leaks are prevents by ensuring that the perimeters of the insulations are sealed well too.
